Found Today

Elaborately conceived, painstakingly executed, the photographs of Gregory Crewdson transform his New England hometown into dreamscapes of light, despair, isolation and incredible beauty. Gregory's work is now the subject of a feature length documentary, filmed during the past decade. Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters will allow us the privilege of witnessing the artist at work, the elaborate sets & crews required the translate the vision of his mind's eye into hauntingly beautiful photographs he creates.

Thanks to APE for the find. Check out the trailer below:

February 17, 2012

Work continues, slow but steady, on the gathering, editing and eventual culling of thousands upon thousands of images destined or not for the new website galleries and print portfolio. Last week I was on a roll, making it nearly through two storage drives holding 2TB of images each... a couple of more folders to look through on the second one then I can move on to the third, fourth, fifth & sixth... At times it seems hopeless. Forced to confront your failures with an occasional triumph here and there is no easy task.

Little progress on the project was made this week... a massive head cold has me down but not out as I ventured to the mega-resort area of Wailea in pursuit of the most delicious signature appetizers to be found on the south shore. A list of nine different dining venues was on my initial task list... this quickly whittled itself down to eight as Cruella DeVille was able to submit her own photos for the story, sparing me of any unpleasant encounters with her highness. Thanks for that Keith! I owe you one!

Four days & five trips back & forth to Wailea yielded a great crop of photos, thanks to some very talented chefs who really put their hearts & creativity into the foods they produce. A sort of wrap party of medicinal cocktails (yes, bourbon IS medicinal) to clear my stuffy head ensued post final shot last evening, taken in the lush lobby lounge of the Four Seasons Resort, all courtesy of Destination Diva Kathy C. and the lovely folks that run the resort association. Look for the story between the pages of the April issue of the newly re-designed & ultra-fab Wailea Magazine.

It also appears that annual advertising budgets have begun to be approved as a fresh, new wave of bid requests have come streaming in during the past few days. I'll be busy this weekend sharpening the pencil & putting it to paper preparing several bids for several projects, one of them even destined for the national prints...

And there's still all those drives waiting for me to pour thru them as I continue the work on the portfolio. This will keep me busy for weeks to come.
